The lightweight, versatile, and portable Baby and Rocket with their easy to set margins and simple ribbon changing are used by many of the most famous and prolific writers of our time. The Rocket debuted with minor cosmetic changes from the Baby, such as a color change from grey to sea foam green, a more durable construction with a better handle and locking mechanism as well as enlarged keys making it more user friendly. The Hermes Baby/Rocket series were introduced in 1935 and were an instant success. Using a variety of metals in construction, the Rocket is still one of the lightest portable around. HERMES 3000 TYPEWRITER MANUAL
The Hermes 3000 is regarded by many to be one of the finest portable typewriters in the world, the most advanced manual made and also one of the most sought after due to its reliability and clarity of type. Major innovations included the world's first lightning margins (visible in front of the sheet of paper), automatic tabulator, touch regulator, grouping of all of the service keys, and integrated base plate and cover to facilitate handling and carrying. The Hermes 3000 has a compact design, ultra low profile and built-in carrying case. After dissecting many of the current models, they debuted the Hermes 3000. Hermes started out with the 2000 model which was more of a conventional typewriter though very solid and reliable. The company spent years researching how they could improve the current typewriter design.
They are known to this day as one of the finest music box makers. The designer of the Hermes was Paillard, a company which initially started with watch movements and music box mechanisms.
